FAQ

Does parenting get easier as the kids grow up?

I honestly don’t think parenting ever gets any “easier”…… but that’s subjective. As the kids grow through each stage of their lives, the challenges are not the same but they do remain. The devil will always try and drive that wedge between parents and kids, just hold true to what you believe and stand by that foundation.

What’s the worst thing you’ve seen as a firefighter over the last 24 years?

Nope, don’t be “that person”. I get asked this a lot (hence the FAQ), and it’s always in a social atmosphere with many people around. Look, if you’re a first responder and you need help dealing with a bad call that will not escape your thoughts, EMAIL ME. If you’re not in this line of work, you’re basically asking me to relive the worst emergency experience of my life, one of many that remain in my reoccurring nightmares and regular thoughts. I know your curious, but the answer is not for the faint of heart.

Why did you accept Christ “all the sudden” after all those years of not believing?

Well, that’s a question I normally get asked behind my back. I spent almost my career developing a reputation for many things, (some of which will be discussed through blogs) so the fact that I converted was a shock and disbelief for many. I had many co-workers who proclaimed Christianity that didn’t believe I could change (obviously they’ve skipped a few books in the Bible), and it was natural for them to think that this might not be real. To answer, I felt the Holy Spirit say to me (while at church with my wife and kids) “it’s time, stop procrastinating”. Within 36 hours I “formally” became Christian. I say “formally” because I believe it was the Holy Spirit moving in me and God speaking to me that day, so in that moment my heart was softened, and I knew He existed.
